Jan Szlachtowski 'Grancino' Cello
4/4, Crafted in 2018, New
Rich and full, more like an antique cello sound. Woody and warm. Nicely even tone and balance across the entire register. Both resonant and focused, this one has plenty of power and great projection. Lovely for the intermediate-advanced player, looking for a consistently beautiful instrument. This cello speaks wonders, especially in the lower register. Its sound is bright and crisp on the A and D strings, while the lower strings are clear and broad.
Jan Szlachtowski was born in 1951 in Nowy Targ where he lives and works today. In 1970 he finished technical college of violin making in Nowy Targ where he worked under direction of the old Polish Master- Jozef Bartoszek. Jan honed his violin making skills at William H. Lee workshop in Chicago, where he worked in 1987-1988.
Since 1988 he has been working in Poland at the Bobak workshop. The Szlachtowski cellos are perfect for serious students and young professionals alike.
