7/8 size Michael Gerlach cello Copy of Giovanni Bapt. Gabrielli
Wonderful, resonant dark voice with excellent sustain and complexity. The projection is incredible and can easily keep up with a 4/4 cello. No fight in this one plays like easily with no problematic wolf tones that I can find. This cello has a nice balance and consistent tonal color that carries across the strings seamlessly. The bass is very robust and the upper register is open and sweet. Very responsive and has a good degree of depth and complexity to explore. It's entire range is very resonate and open.
Superb sounding 7/8 size cello. If you need a 7/8 size, but are afraid of having to compromise projection and sound quality to step down to a smaller cello, no worries, I think this cello will be a happy surprise.
The only Reason this one came back was it was still too big for my client. She downsized to a regraduated and re-barred Gerlach 3/4 which too has an incredibly big sound.
The following is the set it up:
-
New Harmony 10mm carbon fiber endpin assembly (lightens the cello and opens the sound)
- Fench style bridge
-
Evah Pirazzi A and D
- Permanent G
- Spirocore tungsten C
-
French style Pernambuco 'Bogaro & Clemente' tailpiece (Made in Italy) built in carbon tuners
- Pernambuco heart style pegs with a Posture (comfort) peg for the C.
