Description Measurements My Address   SOLD! Labeled: Joh. Heinrich Hammig  4/4 cello Mittenwald  Estimate of age circa 1950s This is a nice old German made cello. Although the label reads Mitterwald I am told that it is most likely from Markneukirchen in former Eastern Germany maybe 1950 - 1960. Either way it is a nicely built German cello made from choice European tonewoods.. This cello has a rich, dark mellow tone. It is very balanced and possesses excellent depth of tone that you can only get from an older instrument. I have installed a new bridge, and Pusch Hill style, rosewood tailpiece upgraded the endpin. The cello is in a very good state of repair. There a couple of very small repaired cracks in the rib but other than that it is very clean. The neck projection is good and the alignment is centered.The varnish is the typical red brown shading over yellow ground. Made from high grade European tonewoods. The back is of highly flamed maple with a tight straight flaming.   Excellent cello for the serious player.     Body length is 29 1/2" Stop length 27 1/4" Lower bout is 17 1/8" Upper bout is 13 1/2" Center bout 9 1/2" Email for outfit price options.
